HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s top chess player Lê Quang Liêm drew with grandmaster Semen Lomasov from Russia in the fifth round at the Isle of Man International Chess Tournament, held recently in the UK.

Liêm, Elo  二, 七 一 五, drew with Lomasov, Elo  二, 五 四0, after  五 六 moves. In the four previous rounds, Liêm had two wins, one draw and a loss to Abhijeet Gupta from India, Elo  二, 五 八 八.

After five rounds, Liêm ranks  三 九th in the table after starting the tournament at  一 四th.

However, he is only  一. 五 points away to from top players group and a top spot is still available if he performs well in the final four rounds.
